Massport Token

Today at Hannaford, a grocery store, I found a new token sitting on top of the Coin Star machine. It's a Massport (Massachusetts Port Authority) token. The obverse and reverse are the same. They say, "Ground Transport Token - Value One Trip." I know of MBTA tokens, of course, but never heard of Massport tokens. Anyone know if it can still be used or what it might have cost? I presume it was used for buses near Logan airport. Here's a picture of a bunch of them I found online.

I also found a pure Nickel Canadian 5¢ in the same spot.

Found: 1 dime (at Hannaford), 1 foreign coin (a Canadian nickel), 1 token (a Massport token)

Hi - I used to work at Massport. What you have is a token for the taxi cab holding area at Logan know as the "Taxi Pool". There isn't enough room at the terminals for all of the cabs, so they are requried to go first to the Taxi Pool, put a token in the toll basket, and take a ticket which has a number printed on it. The cabs then line up and are dispatched in order of number to the 5 airline terminal cab stands. The value used to be $1.50; it is now about $3.00. The money goes to pay for the Massport people who dispatch the cabs at Logan.

Thanks for the information! Pretty cool to find something worth $3.

Hi I also have a mass port token Where do you turn them in? Do the cab drivers still use them? Will the cab drivers buy them from you or does the amount go towards your cab ride? Thanks
